See the workshop web site for more details. This workshop intends to keep our broader community of developers of shared infrastructure for electronic structure based simulations going &#8211; thank you to everyone who contributed!<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">2025<\/h3>\n<p><strong>[December 4, 2025]<\/strong> ELSI version <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/elsi_project\/elsi_interface\/-\/releases\/v2.12.0\">2.12.0<\/a> was released by James Green, with input from Alberto Garcia, William Dawson, Petr Karpov, Andrei Sobolev, and others present at the monthly ELSI meetings. See the <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/elsi_project\/elsi_interface\/-\/releases\/v2.12.0\">Release Notes<\/a> for more details. The meetings continue as they always have.<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">2024<\/h3>\n<p><strong>[September 19, 2024]<\/strong> We had a great monthly ELSI Update Meeting today &#8211; these meetings happen monthly (next up October 17, 2024, 10:30 am US East Coast time) and they are open to anyone with an interest in ELSI. We do not usually publicize them widely, purely for logistical reasons (sorry), but please contact us if you are interested in any of these meetings, October or in the future.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[August 26, 2024]<\/strong> ELSI version 2.11.0 was released with a number of very helpful updates (see <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.com\/elsi_project\/elsi_interface\/-\/commit\/8277cd02a2456b4acf2a5fe44ec2d387f3e728b5#ab09011fa121d0a2bb9fa4ca76094f2482b902b7\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">CHANGELOG<\/a>). Yes, this news page skipped one release (2.10.0), which also happened earlier. We are proud and grateful that the <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/eth-cscs\/DLA-Future\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">DLA-Future<\/a> solver is supported thanks to Rocco Meli. Intel&#8217;s new LLVM compilers are now also supported. Alberto Garcia contribute a number of essential updates, and we are very grateful for work on ChaSE (Edoardo di Napoli, Xinzhe Wu), David Williams-Young (PEXSI), William Dawson (NTPoly), Sebastian Kokott, Sebastian Ehlert, Uthpala Herath, and many others as well. We are glad that the integration of the ELSI interface into SIESTA is included in this paper. Thank you, SIESTA!<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2020-04-08]<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/arxiv.org\/abs\/2002.10991\">New developments<\/a> of GPU acceleration in the ELPA2 eigensolver is now available in the <a href=\"https:\/\/gitlab.mpcdf.mpg.de\/elpa\/elpa\">development repository of ELPA<\/a> and in the <a href=\"https:\/\/elpa.mpcdf.mpg.de\/elpa-tar-archive\">2020.05.001 release<\/a> of ELPA. The MAGMA project provides a dense linear algebra framework for shared-memory heterogeneous architectures consisting of manycore and GPU systems. Stay tuned for more GPU support in ELSI!<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2019-07-25]<\/strong> Eigensolvers in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.r-ccs.riken.jp\/labs\/lpnctrt\/en\/projects\/eigenexa\">EigenExa<\/a> library now can be used through the ELSI interface. More information, including slides from the presentations given, may be found on the conference <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.elsi-interchange.org\/index.php\/elsi-workshop-2018\/\">website<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2018-08-07]<\/strong> Density matrix solvers in the <a href=\"http:\/\/github.com\/william-dawson\/NTPoly\">NTPoly<\/a> library now can be used through the ELSI interface. NTPoly is a massively parallel library for computing the functions of sparse matrices, enabling linear scaling density matrix purification methods in ELSI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2018-06-22]<\/strong> A bug fix release, ELSI v2.0.2, is now available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.elsi-interchange.org\/index.php\/download\">Download<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2018-06-13]<\/strong> A bug fix release, ELSI v2.0.1 (we moved to the semantic versioning scheme), is now available on the <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.elsi-interchange.org\/index.php\/download\">Download<\/a> page.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2018-05-22]<\/strong> We are pleased to announce the release of ELSI 2018.05 (release candidate; v2.0.0). Source code and users&#8217; guide of this release may be found on the <a href=\"http:\/\/wordpress.elsi-interchange.org\/index.php\/download\">Download<\/a> page. This release adds support for spin-polarized calculations and periodic calculations with multiple k-points. Integration into the ESL Bundle and the ESL Demonstrator, SIESTA support, and implementation of a CMake-based build system were initiated during this workshop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2018-01-01]<\/strong> The first ELSI publication (<a href=\"http:\/\/doi.org\/10.1016\/j.cpc.2017.09.007\"><em>ELSI: A Unified Software Interface for Kohn-Sham Electronic Structure Solvers<\/em><\/a>) is official!<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">2017<\/h3>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>[2017-12-23]<\/strong>\u00a0Starting from its &#8220;171221&#8221; release, the <a href=\"https:\/\/aimsclub.fhi-berlin.mpg.de\">FHI-aims<\/a> electronic structure code uses ELSI as the default infrastructure for eigenproblems.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2017-10-22]<\/strong> A brand-new version of PEXSI, <a href=\"http:\/\/www.pexsi.org\">PEXSI v1.0<\/a>, was released. In this update, the number of poles used by the pole expansion method can be reduced by up to a factor of 4. New functionalities of this PEXSI release have been integrated into ELSI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2017-09-22]<\/strong> The ELPA interface in ELSI was upgraded to the <a href=\"http:\/\/elpa.mpcdf.mpg.de\/elpa-tar-archive\">2016.11.001<\/a> release. Kernels written with AVX512 instructions were added in this update.<\/p>\n<div id=\"contents\">\n<div id=\"contents\">\n<p><strong>[2017-08-16]<\/strong>\u00a0The <a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.elsi-interchange.org\/index.php\/elsi-connector-meeting-2017\/\">ELSI Connector Meeting 2017<\/a> was held at Duke University on August 16th, 2017.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>[2017-07-10]<\/strong> ELSI developers participated in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cecam.org\/workshop-0-1435.html\">Electronic Structure Library Coding Workshop: Drivers<\/a> workshop held in Trieste, Italy from July 10-21, 2017. The implementation of spin channels and k-points in ELSI was initiated during this workshop.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2017-05-31]<\/strong> ELSI Interface 2017.05 was released today!<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2017-04-11]<\/strong> The ELPA interface in ELSI was upgraded to the <a href=\"http:\/\/elpa.mpcdf.mpg.de\/elpa-tar-archive\">2016.11.001<\/a> release. The stability of ELPA and its performance on hybrid CPU\/GPU and multi-core architectures are being continuously improved, thanks to the Max Planck Computing and Data Facility (<a href=\"http:\/\/www.mpcdf.mpg.de\/\">MPCDF<\/a>) and their collaborators.<\/p>\n<hr \/>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: center;\">2016<\/h3>\n<p><strong>[2016-12-14]<\/strong> A <a href=\"http:\/\/www.elsi-interchange.org:81\/elsi-devel\/elsi-interface\/pipelines\">GitLab CI<\/a> was set up to perform continuous integration on the ELSI development repository.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<div id=\"contents\">\n<p><strong>[2016-11-08]<\/strong> A new version of PEXSI, <a href=\"http:\/\/pexsi.org\">v0.10.1<\/a>, was released. This update extends support to complex Hermitian Hamiltonian and overlap matrices. New functionalities of this PEXSI release have been integrated into ELSI.<\/p>\n<p><strong>[2016-08-19]<\/strong> The\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/wordpress.elsi-interchange.org\/index.php\/group-meetings\/\">ELSI Connector Meeting 2016<\/a> was held at the University of California, Berkeley. This meeting included the core participating teams of ELSI and its stakeholder groups.<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<p><strong>[2016-06-17]<\/strong> ELSI developers participated in the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.cecam.org\/workshop-0-1274.html\">Electronic Structure Library Coding Workshop: Solvers<\/a> workshop held in Zaragoza, Spain from June 6-17, 2016.
